Weekly Update 2/28

Hello KA parents,

Happy (almost) March!  Wow, this year is really flying by!  We are having so much fun reading Dr. Seuss books this week! Check out our new artwork in the hallway, to go along with the book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” On Friday, it is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America day!  We will celebrate with a KA pajama day, plus students may bring books from home.

Next week, we will be reviewing the letters Bb, Ee, and Ll and our most recent sight words: “this”, “do”, “and”, and “what”.  In math, we will continue to work on addition.  I am so impressed with how well they are doing with this new skill!  We are learning different strategies such as drawing pictures, counting objects, and using fingers.  In Lent, we are continuing to learn about the Lenten season and preparing for Easter.  Please note: although the students in grades 1-8 have been attending Stations of the Cross each week, kindergarten will ONLY attend the Living Stations on Good Friday.  This gives us plenty of time to learn about Jesus’ sacrifice and love for us.

Upcoming Dates:

Friday March 2- Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday- kindergarten students may wear pajamas and bring a bag of books from home.  *Please make sure to wear regular shoes and a coat!

Thursday March 15- St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2:00.  Wear GREEN!

Friday March 16- No school, teacher in-service day

Saturday March 17- SMM Shenanigans (adult-only event). Parents, hope to see you there! Don’t have a babysitter? Leave the kids at home with dad and make it a “mom’s night out”!  This is a fun, casual event that supports our school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
