Weekly Update 4/18

Hello KA Parents,

We have been carefully observing our marigold and sunflower seeds, awaiting the first sprouts! This morning I noticed a few seeds have sprouted, the student will be so excited to see them. We will be observing and recording these for four weeks.

Next week we will be working on the letters “Ww”, “Gg”, “Vv”, and “Xx”.  Next week we will review the sight words “he”, “she”, “has”, and “look”.  In math, we will continue our measurement unit.  We will continue to practice addition and subtraction for the rest of the year as well.

In religion, we are working on the Hail Mary prayer.  We will learn how to say a decade of the rosary during April, in preparation for the May Crowning.

Thank you for those who have brought in shoeboxes, plastic applesauce cups, and cardboard egg cartons without holes!  We can still use more, so if you have these items at home, please send them to KA!

Coming Up:

  • Class pictures: Please note that we will have class pictures taken on Tuesday May 1st. Students will wear their regular school uniform.  The whole class will take a picture together, and you will also have the option to have individual photos taken (depending on which photo package you choose to order.)  Order forms were sent home last week in the family envelope.  If you need an extra, they are in the school office.
  • Field Trip: Thank you all for returning the field trip permission slips!  We will go to the Fire Station in Everett on Friday May 4th.  Please note that this is a free dress day.  All students will need to bring their car sear or booster seat to school this day!  Many thanks to those of you who have volunteered to drive.  We will leave school at about 12:45 and will arrive back around 2:45.

Save the dates!

Thursday June 14th– 11:00 am- KA celebration brunch: this will be a special day with songs, student presentations, awards, and brunch!  Please plan on attending this special brunch in our class! We want to make sure each student has at least one special parent or family member in attendance.

Friday June 15th– 9:30 am- End of year prayer service: this assembly in the church will feature special prayers and songs sung by the students of KA and KB.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
