Weekly Update 6/6

Hello KA parents,

With only seven more days of school, the final countdown has begun! In our final week, we are working on sight words and phonics in reading, and time and money in math.  We are working on our final classroom assessments in for letters, sounds, numbers, and reading.  We are practicing songs and readings for our classroom presentation at the KA brunch, and our end of the year assembly.

There will not be any homework for the last week of school.  Mrs. Mallahan will be sending home a summer reading challenge!  Please keep this on the fridge over the summer to keep track of reading!

Coming up:

Tomorrow (Thursday June 7) is teddy bear day.  Your child may bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal from home.  It must be small enough to fit inside his or her backpack.

Tuesday June 12- Summer birthday celebration.  We will celebrate the summer birthdays at lunch on this day, including Mrs. Geppert!  We will have pizza, fruit, cookies, and juice, so you do not need to pack a lunch for your student this day (unless your child doesn’t like these things.)  Please, just pack a snack!

Thursday June 14th– 11:00 am- KA celebration brunch: this will be a special day with songs, student presentations, awards, and brunch!  Please plan on attending this special brunch in our class! We want to make sure each student has at least one special parent or family member in attendance.  Please let Mrs. White know how many family members will attend, so we can plan for enough chairs, etc.

Friday June 15th– 9:30 am- End of year prayer service: this assembly in the church will feature special prayers and songs sung by the students of KA and KB.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
