Hello KA Families,
I am excited to see you all in the next few days for conferences. This is an important time to conference with each family to talk about academic, behavioral, and social/emotional growth and goals for each student. I look forward to meeting with each of you! Students are welcome to be part of the conference in kindergarten. Please note the time reserved for your conference so you can arrive on time. I will have books and activities in the hallway for siblings while they wait.
Coming up next week, we will be focusing on the letter Nn in reading, and the sight word “to”. You can help support your student in their learning by talking about letter sounds and sight words as you read together. In math, we will be continuing with numbers 6-12 (recognizing these numbers, writing, and counting.)
**Please note that the homework that will come home in folders on Friday is not due back until Nov. 30th (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). **
Reminders:
- Library books are due back each Thursday.
- Please be sure your child comes to school with a weather-appropriate jacket or coat.
- Please remind your student to tuck in their white shirts, as per the uniform policy.
Coming up:
- There are four half days due to conferences and the Thanksgiving holiday: Nov. 16, 19, 20, 21. On these half days, school is dismissed at 12:00 noon. There is no lunch period on half days, but please pack a snack for your child. (If your child is going to extension, then they will need to bring a lunch to eat there.)
- Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11:00 we will have our KA Thanksgiving Feast. I will provide turkey for the class, and I would like to invite others to bring a dish to share. It can be any dish that is a favorite for your child or a tradition in your family. This is a fun, community-building tradition in KA. We will share a meal and give thanks together. Parents and family members are invited as well! Please let me know if you would like to contribute a dish to share, and if you think you can come to eat with us! Thank you!
- Save the date: November 28th: Wednesday November 28th is the 2nd annual tree lighting! Kindergarten and preschool will be singing Christmas Carols for this event. See SMM weekly newsletter for more details.
- Save the date: December 19th! The SMM All-School Christmas Program is on the evening of December 19th at the Everett Civic Auditorium. More details to come. Kindergarten students will sing two songs for this program, and then will be excused to sit with their families.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
