Weekly Update 2/23

Hello KA Families,

It was wonderful having everyone back this past week after the snow days and holidays.  Ending the week with our big 100th day celebration was a great way to remind ourselves, and show the school, how much we have learned so far in kindergarten.  We are back into our regular routines, and quickly approaching the end of the second trimester!

This week in reading, we will be focusing on the letter Ll, and also reviewing Ee and Bb.  We will focus on the sight words “and” and “what”, and review “this” and “do”.  In math, we will begin subtraction!  As we work on subtraction, we will focus on its relationship with addition.  We will also continue to work with our 100 chart and teen numbers.  We will continue our assessments for second trimester.

Upcoming Dates:

Tuesday Feb. 26th– Peace Day.  Students may wear SMM Peace shirt, or regular uniform.

Friday March 1st– First Friday, SVDP food drive and free dress

Wednesday March 6th– Lent begins, Ash Wednesday Mass

Thursday March 14th– SMM St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Students wear GREEN!

Friday March 15th– Teacher In-service Day, no school

Saturday March 16th– SMM Shenanigans Event (for parents/adults)

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
