Weekly Update 3/8

Hello KA Parents,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers as my family and I recovered from the flu.  I was very happy to be back at the end of the week.  I am very thankful for all of Mrs. Geppert’s help during my absence.

This coming week in reading, we will be focusing on the letter Uu.  We will focus on the sight words “here” and “was.”  In math, we will be working on larger numbers (over 20).  We will continue to work on addition and subtraction continually at math stations throughout the rest of the year. In religion, we will learn about St. Patrick, and focus on the Holy Trinity.

*Please note that during Lent, kindergarten will ONLY attend Stations of the Cross on Good Friday (April 19th) for Living Stations.  We do not attend each week with the rest of the school.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Thursday March 14th– SMM St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Students wear GREEN!
  • Friday March 15th– Teacher In-service Day, no school
  • Saturday March 16th– SMM Shenanigans Event (for parents/adults).  This event is a fun evening out, and a fundraiser for our school.  It is in our new school gym from 6-9 pm.  I hope to see you there! You can purchase tickets here:  https://stmarym.ejoinme.org/shenanigans
  • Thursday March 21st– Crazy Sock Day, in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day, students can wear crazy socks with their school uniform.

*Save the date for our spring field trip to Fire Station 1 in Everett on Thursday May 23rd.  Email me if you would like to drive/chaperone and I will let the office know to check for your Virtus class and paperwork.  Thank you to those who have already contacted me!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
