Weekly Update 5/24

Hello KA Parents,

*Please RSVP for our kindergarten end of year celebration (Monday June 17th) so we know how many people to expect!  All are welcome (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.) We just need to know how many chairs we will need, and how many treats to plan for.  I will also send out a sign-up for food soon…  Thank you!

This coming week, we will review the letters Gg, Qq, Yy and Zz and all of our kindergarten sight words.  In math, we will continue to work on adding, subtracting, larger numbers, and patterns in numbers.  The students have been practicing counting by 5s and counting by 2s.  We will continue working on punctuation marks in writing.  We will be writing letters to the first grade teachers for “letter writing day”.  Mrs. Buennagel (1A) Mrs. Harris (1B) will write a letter back to our class and share with us on “visiting day!”

Coming up:

  • Math fair is on Friday May 31st.  The middle school students plan the math fair each year to raise money for a charity.  There will be treats and things to purchase, and games to play.  You may send your child with some money ($1-2 is plenty) in a labeled baggie if you wish.

SAVE THE DATES!  We have two very special events for families happening the last week of school.

  • Monday June 17th : KA End of Year Celebration at 1:30 pm. This will be our classroom “graduation” ceremony with student presentation, awards, slideshow and treats.
  • Tuesday June 18th : Last day of school prayer service at 11:00 am, led by KA and KB.  (school is dismissed at 12:00). The kindergarten classes will lead the school prayer service with songs and prayer.  This prayer service assembly will be held in the gym due to the church construction beginning soon.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!  Thank you,

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
