Weekly Update 9/5

Hello KA Families,

We are having a great first week of school!  It has been so wonderful getting to know your children, and having the whole class together. The students have already attended PE with Ms. B, and music with Mrs. McMurray.  We will have our first class with Mrs. Framel (school counselor) tomorrow, and library will begin next week.  Today we had our first rotation of Literacy Stations, and the students did a great job!  Next week, we will begin our first letter Mm and our first math unit on patterns.  Tomorrow (Friday) is free dress for first Friday.  Today, you probably saw the first “Thursday Envelope” come home!  These envelopes are sent home every other Thursday.  Please return the envelope, with any signed/returned papers inside.  If there is nothing to be signed/returned, please send the envelope back to school empty.  We will re-use the same envelope for each family all year long.

Upcoming dates:

  • Tuesday Sept. 10- Picture Day (order forms in Thursday family envelope), free dress
  • Wednesday Sept. 11- Curriculum Night, 6:15 (for parents), please plan for at least one parent to attend this important meeting.  We will begin with an all-school meeting in the parish hall, and then go to your child’s classroom to hear all about the upcoming year, volunteer opportunities, field tri.  See you there!

Thank you!

Thank you to all the families that have sent in your child’s school supplies and paperwork for the year.  If you are still missing something, I will send you an individual email with that information.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Take care,

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
