Dear KA Families,
What a fun week we’ve had with pumpkins, leaves, and of course our field trip! Now that we’ve been in school over a month, we will be working on more student independence in our morning routine. When the teachers arrive in the gym to pick up the class and lead the line to the classroom, we will “wave goodbye” to parents in the gym. It is an important social/emotional learning step for students to come into the classroom and unpack their own things, etc. (If you have any papers for the teacher or the office, just put them in your child’s folder and we will get them daily!) Thank you for supporting your child’s independent learning in this area!
Next week in KA, we will be reviewing the letters Ss and Pp and the sight words “like” and “a.” In math, we will be working on number sense activities, and learning some new math games (come see them in action at Math Night!) In science, we will be conducting pumpkin investigations! We will meet with our sixth grade reading buddies on Friday to do a fun writing project for Halloween.
Keep up the good work with October homework! Mrs. White and Mrs. Geppert check homework each Friday. It will be collected on the last Friday of the month.
- Friday Oct. 11th: No school, Archdiocese-wide teacher in-service day.
- Monday Oct. 14th: Vision screening for kindergarten students. See attached letter for more information about vision screening.
- Thursday Oct. 17th: Math night! 5:30-6:30 pm. Come to SMM to learn more about how to support your child in math. Classrooms in the primary wing, and the library will be open for math games and activities.
Need Service Hours at Home? We have more workbooks and need to have the pages torn out and collated. If you are interested in doing a set of papers at home, please let me know and I will send some home with your child next week. Thank you!
Classroom reminders: Please make sure your child has a weather-appropriate coat or jacket every day, and a refillable water bottle! Thank you.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
