KA Weekly Update 12/3

Hello KA Parents,

I am so proud of our class; the students did such a great job at the Christmas Program on Thursday!

This upcoming week we will continue to learn more about Advent and the first Christmas.  The students are learning an Advent song, and “lighting” a new candle on their advent wreath each week.  We will be focusing on the letter Nn and the sight word “to” this week in reading.  In math, we will be using the numbers 0-12.  On Tuesday we will learn about St. Nicholas and celebrate his special day.  In social studies, we will be learning about the difference between wants and needs. This is especially important during the holiday season!  We will also have a class lesson led by Ms. Garcia, our school counselor, focusing on social skills.  On Friday, we will see our 6th grade reading buddies and give them special Christmas cards.

Upcoming dates:

Friday 12/16: early release, 12:00 dismissal.  This will be our Polar Express movie day/pajama party in KA, followed by the all-school singalong at 11:00.

Dec. 19-Jan. 2: No school, Christmas Vacation.

Jan. 3: School resumes.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
