Weekly Update 11/1

Hello KA Families,

What a fun week we’ve had, with Halloween and All Saints Day!  There are a number of important papers coming home today in your child’s folder.

  • -Pre- Conference Survey – This will help guide our parent-teacher conference coming up later this month.  Parents fill out the front, students fill out the back.
  • -Progress reports- please sign and return!
  • -Scholastic book orders (optional).  Did you know that you can help our classroom earn free books, by ordering books for home? You can order online with code P74D8, or send in to school (checks payable to Scholastic Book Club, no cash.)

Next week in KA, we will be reviewing the letters Tt and Ii.  We will be reviewing the sight words “see” and “go.”  In math, we will be working on number sense activities, and practicing the letters 1-5.   In writing, we are working on using the sight words we know to begin sentences (I, we, am, can, the, like, a, see, go.)  In science, we will continue studying the seasons.  In social studies, we will be learning about Veterans Day.

Keep up the good work with the November homework calendar. Mrs. White and Mrs. Geppert check homework each Friday.  It will be collected on the last Friday of the month.

Coming Up:

  • Friday Nov. 8th– Veterans Day assembly at 2:00 (please join us if you can! All are welcome!)
  • Monday Nov. 11th– No school for Veterans Day

Classroom reminders: Please remember our classroom is nut-free!  Make sure to check any cookies, candy, or other items your child might have in their lunchbox.  Please make sure your child has a weather-appropriate coat or jacket every day, and a refillable water bottle every day!  Thank you.

Need at-home volunteer hours?  Our class would love some new batches of homemade play-doh.  Please let me know if you are interested!  I can send home a recipe (or there are a lot of different recipes online as well).

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
