Weekly Update 11/15

Hello KA Families,

Conferences are coming up!  Thank you for signing up for parent-teacher conferences. Students are encouraged to attend as well. This is a great time to celebrate the growth your child has already shown during the first part of kindergarten, and set goals for continued academic, social, and behavioral success! I look forward to meeting with each of you. Here is the link for your reference : https://signup.com/go/HkggCGx

Next week in KA, we will be working on the letter Cc and the sight word “have”.  In math, we will be working on number sense activities, and the concepts of “more” and “fewer” with graphing.   In writing, we are working on using the sight words we know to begin sentences (I, we, am, can, the, like, a, see, go, to, and have.)

Keep up the good work with the November homework calendar. Mrs. White and Mrs. Geppert check homework each Friday.  It will be collected on the last Friday of the month. (This month, it will be collected on Thursday 11/22.) The new December calendar will be sent home on Monday 12/2.

Coming Up:

  • Nov. 22, 25, 26 – parent teacher conferences (no school)
  • Nov. 27, 28, 29 – Thanksgiving holiday (no school)
  • Friday Dec. 13th is the all-school Christmas program, at the Everett Civic Auditorium. Save the date for this evening event! The kindergarteners will be signing near the beginning of the performance.       Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Classroom reminders: Please remember our classroom is nut-free!  Make sure to check any cookies, candy, or other items your child might have in their lunchbox.  Please make sure your child has a weather-appropriate coat or jacket every day, and a refillable water bottle every day!  Thank you.

Need at-home volunteer hours?  Our class would love some new batches of homemade play-doh.  Please let me know if you are interested!  I can send home a recipe (or there are a lot of different recipes online as well).

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
