Weekly Update 12/13

Hello KA Families,

Please note there are two special Christmas items coming home in backpacks tonight:

  • One is a gift to you (parents) from your child!
  • One is a gift to students from Mrs. White and Mrs. Geppert!

This week in KA, we will focus on the letter Ff, and the sight word “play”.  In math, we will continue our unit on shapes, symmetry, and equal parts.   In religion, we will be learning about the first Christmas.

Mrs. White and Mrs. Geppert check homework each Friday.  It will be collected on the last Friday of the month.  (This month, it will be collected on Friday 12/20.)

Coming Up:

  • TONIGHT! Friday Dec. 13th is the all-school Christmas program, at the Everett Civic Auditorium: 2415 Colby Avenue, Everett WA 98201.  The performance begins at 7:00, please have your child arrive by 6:45.  KA students will line up with their teacher in the hallway to the left of the stage.  The kindergarteners will be singing near the beginning of the performance, and then will come to sit with parents for the remainder of the show (you will want to save a seat for them, or they can sit on your lap!  Some families with young children choose to leave after their kindergartener’s performance, and that is ok too!)  This is a night for students to dress up in their holiday clothes or Sunday best.  Parents will hold on to coats.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 17th is Peace Day.  Students may wear their blue SMM peace shirts (or regular uniform).
  • Friday Dec. 20th is a half day, noon dismissal (no lunch period).  This will be a “pajama day” party for KA.  We will get to wear pajamas to school, watch a movie (The Star), and enjoy cocoa and popcorn.

Classroom reminders: Please remember our classroom is nut-free!  Please make sure your child has a weather-appropriate coat or jacket every day, and a refillable water bottle every day!  Thank you.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Kindergarten Teacher

White, Katie

Mrs. White is so excited for another great year in KA! She has been at SMM since 2014, and has been teaching in Catholic schools since 2002. Over the years, Mrs. White has taught many grade levels and subjects, but kindergarten is her absolute favorite! She loves being part of the early learning process and seeing the amazing connections that kindergarteners make every day. Mrs. White graduated with a BA in education and history from CWU (go Wildcats!) and earned a M.Ed. from Seattle U (go Redhawks!) She lives in Everett with her husband and two sons. Some of Mrs. White's favorites, in no particular order: Dogs, Chocolate, Hiking, Books, and Snow!
